Why Mardella Meadows is one of my favourite wedding venues in Perth
If you are shortlisting locations for your Perth Wedding and “rural but local” is in your must haves column, then Mardella Meadows deserves a spot on the list!
Located approximately 35 minutes from south of Perth, Mardella Meadows combines wide, open farmland, established gardens, rustic buildings and an amazing paddock backdrop with a windmill where the sun sets. An absolute photographer dream! It’s one of those rare locations that you can spend an entire wedding day and never have to leave the property to get a variety of images and backdrops. As a Perth wedding Photographer, that’s one of the things I love the most.

A Venue With SO Much Variety
One challenge I find when choosing wedding venue in Perth is finding a location that offers enough variety for your photos. Mardella Meadows makes that so so easy.
Walking up from the carpark, there is an arched walkway, leading into the main gardens, featuring a gorgeous hedge and the big “Mardella Meadows” sign, out to the pathway between the paddock and main building, onto the paddocks themselves and all within a short walk of each other. The best part is that each spot has a completely different feel and aesthetic, though still cohesive and complimentary to one another.
This means your final gallery feels diverse, without spending precious time on your big day driving between locations.
My Favourite Photo locations at Mardella Meadows
The Secret Garden
If you love an intimate, romantic feel, the Secret Garden is for you.
The tall hedges create privacy while still allowing plenty of natural light, which we photographers love! And not only is it great for couple shots, but lining the family up against the hedges and doing a champagne spray to celebrate is also a LOT of fun!

The Barn
The restored barn adds so much character and is such a gorgeous backdrop. The stacks of hay add a cosy and romantic feel, while adding a new texture into the backdrop and lots of levels to play with. This is such a fun little spot to be in and makes for beautiful portraits, as well as being very secluded and private.

The Open Fields at Sunset
This would have to be my favourite spot within the entire venue.
As your Wedding Photographer, I will be able to time it just right so that when the sun hits that horizon and the light becomes soft and golden, we can sneak out and take some photos walking hand in hand into the sunset. Gorgeous.

Why Mardella Meadows Works So Well For Wedding Photography
Some venues look absolutely beautiful online, but in reality, you’re sharing a space with other patrons or the general public making it feel restrictive and less intimate.
Mardella Meadows is the opposite.
The property is exclusively hired for weddings, meaning couples have plenty of space to relax and enjoy the day with their nearest and dearest…alone. This atmosphere and level of freedom makes a huge difference when it comes to relaxing for photos and being able to be your true selves together.
Things to Consider When Planning your Wedding Photos at Mardella Meadows
I like to advise my couples to plan for at least 30 minutes of portraits as a couple, right around sunset.
This means we can move between the various spots comfortably and finish up in the open fields by sunset to capture those timeless, romantic golden hour shots. This is just a rough guide and what I like to recommend, but any couples who book their wedding photography through me receive tailored service and a personalised timeline for photos depending on their preferences.
Is Mardella Meadows Worth Considering?
Absolutely! I’m sure I have convinced you by now that it is a beautiful location that feels secluded, but very convenient to get to, has a rustic charm and offers a lovely mix of gardens and farmland, but if I haven’t, I’m happy to chat some more!
