Choosing your bush photoshoot location in Perth doesn’t have to be a headache of google searches and pin dropping, in fact, I’ve done all the work for you! Have a look at some of my favourite bush locations for your next maternity, newborn or family session that have been trialed and tested over and over again.
Fairfield Park, Canning Vale
- Ample, close by parking
- Easily accessible
- Playground nearby
- Clean
- Very quiet
I’m really giving away a top location secret here because this is my absolute favourite spot that it seems not many people frequent. I’ve done COUNTLESS sessions here and I have never been disappointed.
On one side of the park there are tall pine trees which scatter pine needles across the entire ground, making a beautiful setting for photoshoots. It creates a true forest vibe that is literally right next to your car making it the perfect location for little legs to walk to, as well as disability accessible.
On the other side of the park (about 100m away, IF THAT) is a range of green bushes and paper bark trees that creates a magical and mystical vibe, like you would imagine fairies and goblins would live. It gives us the best of both worlds and if I ever have to stop shooting here, I’ll genuinely cry.
Kent Street Weir
- Ample, close by parking
- Easy access via footpaths
- Public Toilets
- Clean
- Playground
- Cafe
A close second bush photoshoot location in Perth is Kent Street Weir. I honestly think I’ve done the same amount of sessions here as I have at Fairfield. This spot is absolutely gold because you can truly enjoy your time here. Visit the cafe, have a play on the playground, explore the hidden picnic spots and have your family photos done. You’ll walk away feeling like you’ve had some quality family time as well as capturing it on camera.
While it is a more busy location and a popular walking spot, where I like to go with my clients is more secluded and away from the public. We walk down a beautiful boardwalk (also GREAT for some shots) to a picnic area where there is bush on one side and water on the other. This means your family can be their true selves without anyone around and really enjoy your session.
Max Hunt Reserve
- Ample, close by parking
- Easy access via footpaths
- Clean
- Very quiet
My third favourite bush location is Max hunt Reserve and the biggest thing that draws me in is the beautiful big tree. It’s such a gorgeous backdrop and the sun shines through from behind it giving that beautiful golden glow. Kids love to run around it and climb up it and it just makes for a fun session all round.
There is also water nearby which means you can get the best of both worlds and have some variety in your background.
The only drawback I will say about this spot is that there are a lot of mosquitos, so bring your mozzie spray and insect stickers! I always carry some myself but it can’t hurt to have more!
If you are after a bush photoshoot location in Perth that is tried and tested and has proved itself time and time again, get in touch and let’s chat! I love these spots so much, it truly makes me happy when people want to pick my brains and use the spots I love to capture their families memories.
