I’ve broken down the experience of doing a Family Photoshoot in Perth into a short list of what to expect, so you can go into it feeling comfortable, prepared and able to enjoy the entire experience knowing that I have it all under control!

Before your Family Photoshoot

Booking Process – Either you have sent me a message on social media or enquired through my website. This is the best way to get in touch and I will let you know what dates I have available, whether you need a specific date due to other commitments, pregnancy etc.

Planning – We then go over whether you prefer morning, afternoon, sunset and what sort of vibe you are after. I am also happy to help out with tips on how to prepare your kids for your session so that they come into it knowing what to expect a little more.

Outfits – I am always happy to help you out with planning outfits, mixing and matching colours and textures and love helping choose the final choices!

Location – I have a few locations across Perth that I frequent, from coastal beach locations to secluded bush spots, so I am happy to make recommendations that suit your family and the vibe you want. I am also happy to go to new places if you have something in mind.

During Your Family Photoshoot

How I guide you – I start every session by following your kids lead. Because if the kids are happy, everyone is happy and this makes for a more relaxed and calm session.

Games – From here, I gauge how keen the kids are on playing a game. This could be something simple like Chasey or Hide and Seek. This gets them in the mood to play various other games that produce some beautiful images.

Handling Your kids – I can read a child’s mood and know when they need to be left alone for a minute, can gauge whether they need to run some energy off, are feeling a bit shy or are getting too hyped up and need to calm down a little. This is all a part of my experience and helps me “control the chaos” so to speak!

Candid vs posed – You won’t hear me say “say cheeeese” but you will hear me ask them to “look at the person who does the biggest burps!” and get everyone’s natural laughs and reaction. The only sessions I really focus on a *slightly* more posed version is maternity, so we can see that beautiful bump! Everything else is candid brought to life using natural prompts.

After Your Family Photoshoot

Choosing Your Family Photos – if you have chosen one of the packages that includes 25 or 40 images, I will cull down the entire session to the top photos (approx 60+) and edit a couple to show you what the final edit will look like. I then send you the gallery to select the images you want included in your final edited gallery, or upgrade to include all images.

Gallery Delivery – Once you have chosen, I will edit your gallery and deliver them through an online link where you can download all high res images and share with anyone you like.

Timeline of Photo Delivery – My turn around is around 4 – 6 weeks for family sessions.

But I can also promise that I will capture your kids true personality and the relationship you each share with one another exactly as you are. Because the goal isn’t perfect smiling photos. The goal is to capture this moment in time, this season and this version of them before they grow up.
