Doing a Winter photoshoot in Perth seems daunting – the rain, the wind, the cold. But there are SO MANY reasons that it is a great idea!

1. Avoid witching hour

Kids kick up around 5pm? No worries! The sun sets earlier during Winter, which means we get to start earlier! We avoid witching hour, the kids get to burn off some end of the day energy running around during our session, then it’s off for dinner, bath and an early bedtime. Everyone is happy.

2. Fun in the rain

The BEST part of a Winter photoshoot in Perth is that we get a lot of rain. Instead of trying to hide from it, let’s embrace it. Let’s put on puddle suits and gum boots and jump around in puddles. Let’s catch rain drops on our tongue and wear bright yellow rain jackets and carry umbrellas. There is something that comes out in all of us when we get to jump around in puddles and live in the moment. These moments are so beautiful and fun to capture. your kids will have an absolute blast…just make sure you bring towels and a change of clothes!

3. So cosy

Dress in boots, scarves, beanies and bring a big blanket to wrap the entire family in. I love Winter for its cosiness and cuddling up with my boys in a warm hug. Recreate this feeling during your family session. or better yet, do an in door session in PJ’s, slippers, dressing gowns, cups of hot chocolate and cuddling up on the couch together. Capture some of the best indoor fun days together and remember them forever because they won’t last long.

Winter photoshoots in Perth can be amazing fun and so different from other sessions. I urge you to give it a go and beat the cold by huddling together for some cosy family shots.
