As a natural perth photographer, my aim is to capture your family as authentically as possible. In fact, my whole business is built around the fact that my sessions are play based with natural prompts to ensure you feel present and comfortable, resulting in authentically YOU family photos.
It’s what I do best. But I have 2 tried, tested, proven and FUN ways to ensure your kids feel entirely comfortable with me.
1. Let them play with my camera
I don’t mean I hand it over to them and give them full reign. No, I mean I get down on their level next to them, show them the button I press, aim it at you (not them, so they don’t feel exposed) and let them press the button.
This allows us to address the elephant in the room (aka me and my big scary camera), breaks down the scary barrier between us, lets them interact with me and shows them what we are doing. When they can see the photo on the back, they feel proud and excited that they did that and they either want to do more (always happy to oblige!) or they want photos of themselves. It’s such a simple one but always seems to work.

2. I act like a kid
I run, I play, I jump in puddles, I’ll run into the waves with them and get wet. I’ll be as silly as possible and play games all in the name of letting them feel comfortable and enjoy the experience. Because if they are not enjoying the experience then the photos will not reflect who they truly are.
This is just 2 of the proven techniques I have learnt to be a successful natural Perth Photographer and I am constantly expanding on my toolbox of tricks. My aim is always to capture photos you would be proud to display on your walls and say “that’s my child’s real personality”.
