Look, I know it sounds waaaay too confident to state I am the “Best Perth family photographer”, but we are all about confidence and *knowing your worth* around here. And I know that I AM worth it!
Hi! My name is Miranda and I am a Perth photographer specialising in families, maternity and newborn lifestyle. I pride myself on being able to help families feel relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera.

How do I make your family photoshoot feel easy?
I use a series of games and natural prompts to help ease any tension and get rid of the feeling of “needing to perform”. My style is all about natural, candid and yes, chaotic energy.
I will absolutely be the one encouraging your children to run, jump, play and be sneaky if it means we capture their true selves.
I often come up with things in the moment that are tailored specifically to what your child is feeling at the time. Because sometimes kids just need a minute, want a hug, want my camera out their face or simply need a snack. And that’s okay.
I know that I am the right Perth family photographer for you because I can read your kids mood, know what they need and will adapt and cater to them to bring the best side of their authentic selves out for your family photos.
What are some games I use in my sessions?
Scaring the parents is ALWAYS a hit. Kids love to scare their Mum and Dad for some reason!
Siblings holding hands and running while Mum and Dad walk behind.
Mum and Dad stand in the middle and the kids run circles around them.
Getting them to tell me your eye colour for a more tender moment.
Everyone holding hands and the kids have to drag Mum and Dad forward.
Playing underneath a blanket together for a cosy shot.
The list goes on!
What family photoshoot locations do I frequent?
As a Perth family photographer, I photograph families all over Perth from coastal, beach sessions to gorgeous bushland locations. I’m always open to new suggestions or if there is somewhere you prefer, but some of my top photoshoot locations are:
- Kent Street Weir (bush, boardwalk and open space)
- Fairfield Park (forest vibes)
- Perry’s Paddock (open field)
- Whitfords Beach (a quieter location with a food truck in the carpark! Win!)
I genuinely enjoy hanging with you and your family, creating a session that not only delivers you beautiful family photos, but serves as a lovely memory of an afternoon spent playing games with Mum and Dad. What’s more beautiful than that?
FAQ
- What should we wear for family photos? I can help guide you on colours to wear/outfit combinations. I usually advise families to avoid big bold colours that clash with each other, fluros and big brands. We don’t want to draw attention to one person. If you choose 2 colours you like that go together then everyone wears a piece in one of those colours, complimented with neutrals, it’s a win! That said, it’s your session and i encourage you to wear what you feel comfortable in.
- What if my kids don’t cooperate during our family photoshoot? Great. I love a challenge! Honestly, so many children start the session not particularly keen on participating. I am well prepared and will happily work with them in their time to let them feel comfortable and happy to join in.
- Do we need to know how to pose for our family session? Nope, not even slightly. If you want posed photos, I can help guide you. But my style is very much about leaning into the chaos, capturing real moments and genuine smiles rather than posed ones.
- Can we bring snacks and toys to our family photoshoot? PLEASE DO. Always snacks and favourite toys. Kids will be more susceptible to the experience with a full belly and they love to talk about their favourite toys and hobbies. Always welcomed.
- What if my child is very shy? It’s totally fine. If they need extra Mum and Dad cuddles or just want to be carried the entire time, guess what? They make for some of the best cuddley photos. I also have a few tricks up my sleeve to get them involved without feeling like the focus of the session. I got you.
- Can we choose our own Perth photoshoot location? Of course! I am happy to come to a spot you love if you prefer.
- What time of day is best for family photos? If you want that golden glow, then the hour before sunset is the best time for family photos. If you don’t mind, then we can do anytime however keep in mind that midday sun does tend to result in people squinting.
- Do you photograph newborn and maternity sessions in Perth? I do! I’m a Perth family photographer by title but this includes maternity and newborn sessions. For maternity, I still use games and prompts but we definitely lean into a bit more guided posing to show that beautiful belly.
- Do you do in-home family photoshoots in Perth? Absolutely. These tend to be some of the most relaxed sessions with everyone in their own space, especially for newborn sessions when everyone is tired because what even is sleep when you’re a few weeks old?
- What is the best age for family photos? Literally, any age. Don’t wait until a “perfect age”. Capture them now because they grown faster than you think.
- How do we book a family photo session with you? You can send me a message on my contact page and I will respond with my availability!
- How many images do we get from our photoshoot? My lowest package starts at $550 and includes 25 digital images, with my top package delivering all the best digital images from your session.
- What happens if the weather is bad for our scheduled photoshoot? I am always happy to reschedule for heavy rain/storm. if it’s a light/intermittent drizzle and you’re happy to push on, then so am I!
